Good morning Reader, Saturday brought some sweet excitement to the farm—our barn cat, Omlette, had been looking suspiciously plump all week. Sure enough, by Saturday afternoon, she was no longer round, and Benj took notice and said, “Girls, you better check the hayloft. It looks like Omlette had kittens.” Susie and Lucy scrambled up the ladder, flashlight in hand and hearts hopeful (these two love all babies). They perched on the hay with me and quietly watched the rows of bales, waiting to see where Omlette would slip in. After a patient little stakeout, they spotted her slipping into a hidden cavity surrounded by warm walls of hay. Inside was a perfect nest—and five teeny-tiny kittens, squeaking and stretching and snuggling next to their mama. The sounds of their mews, Omlette’s purrs, rain dripping softly on the tin roof, along with my girls’ quiet “awwws” filled the loft. The scent of warm hay and the feel of the moment wrapped around us like a blanket. But the best part? On the way back down, Susie led the way, racing down the ladder. I held it steady for Lucy, who paused halfway, turned to me with the biggest smile, and said, Her words landed on my heart like a spark. That’s exactly what good news does—it makes us move. It stirs us with joy. It begs to be shared. And isn’t that just a tiny picture of the Gospel? The Good News of Jesus isn’t a truth we keep to ourselves. It’s life-altering, soul-sparking joy that sends us running to tell someone else. The shepherds couldn’t stay in the field once they heard their Savior had come, just as the women couldn’t stay at the tomb when they saw it was empty. “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.’” Just like Lucy and Susie couldn’t wait to tell someone about five mewling kittens, we are called to be messengers of something even greater—news that brings great joy for all people. If your heart is full of wonder over new life in a hayloft, or if you're in a season that feels more like waiting in the rain (I know personally some of you are here, and am sending hugs your way), I want to remind you of this truth today: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." —John 3:16 (NIV) This is Good News for you!
