Looking Ahead With Gratitude This Advent Season

Hey there, Reader.

As we step into Advent, I’ve been reflecting on the past year — and especially on all of you who chose to support our little farm. Your trust, encouragement, and loyalty have made it possible for us to keep growing, learning, and dreaming bigger.

Last week, after our Thanksgiving meal at Grandma’s, dishes washed and the house full of warmth, I bundled up and drove back to the farm. Grandma teased, “Those pesky chores,” and I laughed, saying, “you know I love milking — I’ll be back in about two hours.”

My oldest daughter joined me to help, feeding calves and pigs while I called in Rosie and Peggy from the cold and milked like we do every day. The snow makes everything clunkier and harder, but this work matters — and your support makes it all possible.

Because of that support, we’re preparing to take a leap we couldn’t have imagined in those early days: if everything goes as planned, we’ll be signing to purchase additional acreage tomorrow! This land will allow us to grow own non-GMO feed, deepen our regenerative practices (hello, cover crops!), and expand the impact our farm can have. It’s a big step — full of hope, responsibility, and trust — and it simply wouldn’t be happening without you.

We’re also dreaming and exploring: maybe heirloom wheat berries someday? Or maybe we stick to what we know and love — beef, pork, and milk. I’d love to hear what would bless you most (respond to this email or tell me at your next pick up)!

This Advent season is a time of slowing down, preparing, and looking ahead with hope. That sense of expectation is mirrored in our farm work: we plan, we wait, we trust, and we move forward knowing each season brings new growth.

We’ll be opening our 2026 Beef CSA orders on December 14th, and closing them December 20th. But before we get there, I simply wanted to pause and say:

Thank you.
For caring about your food.
For valuing small farms.
For believing in this work enough to help it grow.

Wishing you a peaceful and hope-filled Advent as we look forward to the year ahead.

With gratitude,
Leah & the Great Heritage Farm Family
