This is definitely a detour from our usual grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and raw milk offerings… but somehow it still feels right at home on the farm.

Benjamin and I are super excited to host a Bronze Age Sword Casting Class right here at Great Heritage Farm on Tuesday, July 9!

Our family loves learning together, making things with our hands, and stepping into stories that connect us across generations.

That’s why we’re teaming up with swordsmith and educator Greg Torgeson for a full-day class that’s part history, part hands-on creation, and totally unforgettable.

You (or your kids or grandkids) will:

• Learn how ancient short swords were made
• Pick a sword design & set up your mold
• Watch Greg pour molten metal
• And take home a real sword you helped cast

It’s a mix of art, science, and storytelling—and it’s designed to be fun and engaging for all ages. Little ones will need an adult to help, but the steps are simple and exciting. Adults are welcome to just observe and help… or make their own sword too!

If you know my husband Benjamin, you already know that swords and history are definitely part of life here. Benj loved all things medieval growing up, was in a fencing club in grad school, and gets our kids fired up when he shows them how to spar. So the chance to host this class in our own backyard feels like a dream come true—and I’d love to share it with friends like you.

The teacher, Greg, is not just an expert—he’s a blast to learn from. He’s known for bringing history to life in the best way: with fire, metal, and stories you’ll remember.

This all happens right here on the farm. You’ll be surrounded by our open pastures, maybe slip away to say hi to the cows or pet a goat or llama… then come back and cast your sword.

• Cost: $100 per sword* (includes all materials and instruction)​
