Hey Reader, How are you all holding up this week? I’ll be honest—this cold snap has been tough, and I’ve been feeling a little “in it” as I push through chores and the trouble cold creates: frozen water lines, equipment not starting, cracked and frozen chicken eggs (which means orders not filled), worrying the animals will eat enough and stay warm. And since things were rough the mind wanders to other trouble: bills, unkind comments, fighting kids . . . let me tell you, some days I don’t just carry the anxiety—I seem to actively look for it. Do you ever do that? Seek out all kinds of reasons why life your life is rough and hard?? In the middle of it all one of the kids shared an activity with me they read in a book I thought was really cool to reshape my thinking: "Mom, write down 10 things you're thankful for that you already have." It struck me how often I focus on what we don’t have, overlooking the abundance of blessings right in front of us, and as we are reminded in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." The freezing days and extra work on the farm can make it tempting to dwell on the challenges. But taking just a few minutes to reflect on gratitude shifts everything. Here’s my list of 10 Things I Am Thankful For I Already Have to inspire you:
Why not try it today, Reader? Grab a pen, jot down your own list, and see how focusing on what you already have can cultivate an attitude of abundance, even in the depths of winter. If you’re feeling up to it share your list with me—I’d love to hear about the blessings in your life! Despite the cold and those anxious moments, there’s so much to be thankful for. We’re busy here at the farm feeding everyone, preparing orders and sharing the goodness of what we raise with all of you. That connection—our farm and your table—keeps us grounded, even when life feels heavy. So, if you’re carrying some weight of your own this week, know this: it’s okay. You’ll get through it, one step at a time. And in the middle of it all, don't forget to look around at the beauty and blessings you already have. Stay warm, stay hopeful, and thank you for being part of our little corner of the world.
