Hey Reader - how are you doing? My youngest, Lucy, reminded me before school that we’re only 9 sleeps away from Christmas! I love this season so much—but wow, it can feel like a lot sometimes. How are your preparations going? Last night, I had one of those distracted moments that come with the busyness of it all. I pulled a jar of milk out of the fridge, took the lid off without thinking, and then—without realizing what I was doing—shook it vigorously to mix the cream in. WHAT?! In an instant, milk was everywhere—on the counters, the floor, the fridge shelves, and, of course, all over me. For a split second, frustration bubbled up as I processed what I had just done. But then… I started laughing. It was one of those ridiculous, messy moments that could have ruined my evening, but instead, it reminded me to slow down and let go. That little spill helped me realize how distracted I’d become by all my to-dos. This season pulls us in so many directions—endless lists, events, and expectations. But none of that holds a candle to the quiet, unshakable love we find in Christ, our Savior. What if we chose to pause, refocus, and let the awe of His birth, the peace He brings, and the love we’re called to share guide us through the busyness? Speaking of love, we’re feeling so much of it for our newest addition on the farm—our beautiful Jersey cow! Thank you to everyone who joined in on our naming contest. My daughter Susie had the honor of choosing the final name, and after much deliberation (and plenty of hugs), she picked the perfect one: Rosie. Here are some of the other lovely names you suggested: Angel, Harriet, Sweet Cream Brownie, Rosemary, Daisy, Matilda (nickname "Moo-tilda" - I LOVE this one), Millie Moo, Carmel, Marigold, Brownie, Valerie, Lottie Latte, Mabel, Dottie, Hope, Sundae, Veronica, Belle, Bluey, Nellie, Harmony, Popsicle, Creamy. What a creative and thoughtful group you are! Rosie has already stolen our hearts. She’s a gentle, sweet cow, and Susie has been brushing her and leading her around the barn after school every day. Every night, she insists on giving Rosie a big hug before saying goodnight so "she knows this is her home and we love her".
