Hi Reader, Wow — what a gift this past week has been! On Wednesday, we welcomed families to the farm for a Bronze Age Sword Casting class. It was pretty epic: people chose their sword design, cast molds in sand, and watched molten metal poured by a skilled instructor. There was history, hands-on learning, and such wonder in the air. I loved how kids’ faces lit up as their freshly made swords were revealed — and later polished and leather-wrapped, like something straight out of a legend. Then, on Saturday, we joined the Minnesota Sustainable Farming Association & the crew at Alternative Roots in Madelia for the 3rd Annual Sowing Seeds event (I was invited to co-host and learned SO MUCH about what goes on behind the scenes to make a festival happen). The day was buzzing with energy — families learning homesteading skills, kids running around the farm, & local farmers being featured. It reminded me: this is what we’re hungry for. Real experiences & community. In a world where our phones are always reaching for our attention, it felt so good to be part of something that asked us to look up and lean in. I came home tired — and completely filled up by laughter, learning, and good conversation. It’s such a powerful thing to gather with others who care about using their God-given talents and enjoy slow living. Now that things have settled down a bit, I’m excited to welcome you and your family back out to the farm! If you’ve been wanting to visit, come walk the pasture, talk cows, or just slow down — this is your open invitation. Farm tours are always free, and one of my absolute favorite ways to spend time during the week. Let’s make time for real connection & keep choosing it. I’d love to see you soon.
