The older I get, the less and less I do, Reader.

Earlier this month, we were experiencing frustrating brownouts—lights flickering, appliances faltering—and discovered the power line that runs from our service pole to the house needed to be replaced. It was an unexpected $2,500 repair. Ouch.

Our budget is already tight right now. It’s a season—we’ve committed (and are thankful!) to supporting our local school ministries, which has removed much of our “expendable” income for the time being.

And then—within an hour of receiving that estimate—we got a call from someone asking if they could buy a starter flock of hair sheep — one I had been looking to re-home.

For exactly $2,500.

Coincidence?
I don’t think so.

God doesn’t always answer prayers the way we expect, but He always provides what we need. Sometimes that provision looks like sheep walking out the gate at just the right time.

The other day, Marion told me she had prayed at the county fair that dad would win the $100 in script dollars. He didn’t. But we talked about how God answered that prayer too—with a “no.” Because that, too, was what was best for us.

So I’ll ask again—do you believe in coincidence?
Or are you, like me, starting to see a loving pattern in the ways God shows up, over and over again?

I’ve started noticing that those patterns often come through people — a neighbor who lends a hand, a friend who stops by at just the right time… or a stranger whose timing makes us shake our heads and smile.
